My name is Stefan and I am a student at Oberlin College. I love to watch movies and talk about them. That’s it. The basic catalyst for this blog. I suppose there are only so many times you can tell your friends and family how much you couldn’t stand Hayden Christenson’s acting in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones before you feel the need to tell someone else. Everyone else.
On this blog, I will be reviewing movies. Movies that have just come out, and movies that have been around. Movies I love, and movies that make me wish I was that dude from Momento who had to tattoo stuff on his body in order to remember it. According to Theodore Sturgeon, 90% of everything is crap, and when it comes to movies the number may be even higher. Some movies you just know are bad, even if you’ve never seen them. I probably won’t be reviewing many of those, mostly because I want to avoid being overcome with the desire to slam my head repeatedly against a hard object. To those who have dedicated themselves to watching and reviewing such atrocities, my heart goes out to you. I salute your fortitude and dedication.
Though I’m sure no one went to see Meet the Spartans or Vampires Bite (what is it with these horrible spoof movies, anyway?) with any expectations of watching a cinematic masterpiece, some stinkers are harder to spot. They hide themselves behind awesome looking trailers, lure you in, take your money and then leave you holding your empty wallet and wondering what happened to those last two hours of your life, two hours you can never get back.
That’s why I have dedicated myself to this task. To help movie-goers find the 10% of movies that are worth seeing. Feel free to disagree with me. Unless you’re that one guy who gave Toy Story 3 a bad review, you’re entitled to your opinion. And post comments. I love discussion.
